Wanyonyi, Kipyegon among Kenyans in action on Day 4 of Tokyo 25 World Championships

Emmanuel Wanyonyi in men’s 800m heats
Reigning Olympic Champion, will feature today for the first time, on Tuesday 16th, at the ongoing Tokyo 25 World Athletics Championships.
Wanyonyi is one of the greatest medal hopefuls for Kenya and Kenyans will be eager to see him in action in the 800m heats that will be staged at 1:35 PM.
These champions have been full of drama, especially in the men’s 1500m which is a middle-distance event and Wanyonyi will have to be careful not to fall or get involved in jostling that cost USA’s Olympic Champion in the 1500m event. Small mistakes could cost him his dreams of becoming and Olympic and World Cahmpion.
Four Kenyans are participating in this race. Alex Kipngetich, Kelvin Loti, and Nicholas Kebenei will join Wanyonyi in the 800m.
Mercy Oketch, the impressive 400m Kenyan runner, will be hoping to advance to the finals in the women 400m at 3:07 PM. This is one event that the Kenyan women are trying to break into and Oketch’s performance will create a ripple effect in the Kenyan youths who aim to be world champions in future.
Faith Kipyegon goes for gold in the women’s 1500m final
Kenyan fans’ most anticipated event of the day is the women’s 1500m final at 4:05 PM. The multiple world and Olympic Champion, Faith Kipyegon will lead Nelly Chepchirchir and Dorcus Ewoi in the quest to get another gold medal for Kenya at the championships.
