2015 World Champion and Kenya’s Team Captain to the World Athletic Championships in Japan, Julius Yego will be among the Kenyan athletes to watch on Thursday, 18th, on Day 6 of the Tokyo 25 World Championships. During the qualification rounds, Yego threw a season’s best of 85.96m on his first attempt, surpassing the automatic qualification mark of 84.50. He stepped out of the competition to await the finals. Only Anderson Peters of Grenada would overtake him with a seasonal throw of 89.53m.

On Day 6 of the championships, the “YouTube” athlete will be the only Kenyan competing for a medal. The rest of the athletes will hope to advance to the finals in the men’s 800m and women’s 5000m, while those in the women’s 800m will hope to advance to the semi-finals.

As the team captain, he will hope to motivate the rest of the team by giving his best to guarantee another medal for Kenya in one of the championships that look good so far for the Kenyan fans. Kenya is currently in second place behind the USA on the medal table.
