Moraa among Kenyan athletes on Day 7 at World Championships

One more step remains for Kenya’s defending champion, Mary Moraa to reach the finals of the women’s 800m at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
There will be three Kenyan women in the semi-finals, the others being Lilian Odira who was the Kenyan national trials winner, and Sarah Moraa who was advanced by the track judge after she was clipped and almost fell in her heat.
Mathew Kipsang, the winner of the Kenyan trials will take to the track at 2 PM (Kenyan time) to secure a spot for the finals. Cornelius Kipsang who finished second at the Kenyan trials and Jacob Krop who was added to the team by the selection panel will be the other Kenyans on the track.
Irene Jepkemboi will be making history in the women’s Javelin Throw by becoming the first Kenyan women to represent Kenya at the championships in that discipline. Her countryman, Juius Yego, referred to as the “YouTube Man” has already etched his name in history books by becoming a pioneer in a new event in Kenya and winning a world title in 2015. He was again in the final at the Tokyo 25 Championships, but unfortunately got injured in his second throw and had to pull out of the event.
