Prize money structure for the Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships

In addition to medals, Individual athletes and relay teams will compete for prize money at the World Athletics Championships, which will be held in Tokyo from September 13th to 21st, 2025.
There is a total prize money pot of US$8,498,000.
This amount will go to podium finishers in all 49 events (24 each gender and one mixed) contested at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo.
For Sprinters, reaching the finals guarantees a win of at least $5000, given that the last-place finisher gets $5,000, while the winner goes home with $70,000.
This is going to be a huge payday for the world’s best athletes as they seek to throw, run, and jump to their best ability. Most nations have already promised or set policies regarding how to award their medalists once they land in their home countries. For example, Kenya awarded KES 3 million to gold medalists, 2 million to silver medalists, and 1 million to bronze medalists after the Paris Olympic Games last year. The same Kenyan runners who even broke world records last year will be motivated to perform well again this year.
